As part of my job as a health coach and consultant, I can assist businesses and organizations by offering presentations, workshops, and coaching geared at helping their employees. I love speaking to and helping businesses educate their employees on how sickness impacts productivity, performance, and profit at work and how to keep them healthy. After all, it’s good for the employees and for business!
Personal illnesses are not only bad for employees but also bad for business. A survey by CCH, a leading provider of Human Resources and employment law information, finds that absenteeism can mean billions of dollars of lost revenues for U.S. businesses.
The nation’s largest employers estimate that unscheduled absenteeism costs their businesses more than $760,000 per year in direct payroll costs, and even more when lower productivity, lost revenue, and the effects of poor morale are considered.
When your workers have chronic health issues like diabetes, blood pressure, migraines, arthritis, COPD and asthma, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and many more, they get tired easily and do not have creative energy at work. Due to their lack of energy, their memory is impacted, and that triggers forgetfulness. Sometimes important work does not get done.
A lack of creativity or productivity, coupled with stress, may lead your employees to anxiety and sometimes depression, and that further affects them and the work environment…this, in turn, affects other employees.
When you have a culture of sickness and suffering in your organization, it impacts everyone.
So what do you do?
Give your employees the gift of health.
Investing time & resources into the health and wellness of your workforce pays off in terms of exponential results: improvement of morale, an increase in creativity, higher energy levels, a greater output of work, and ultimately, a decrease in sick leave.
By implanting a customized Health & Wellness program for the company as well as for key employees, such as members of a leadership team, you will see a boost to your entire organization. I’ve seen morale increased, work improved, as well as depression, anxiety, and frustration reduced or eliminated.
Productivity and performance go up all across the company.
How can you start to make these changes in your organization? Sit down with your company and find out the common health issues in your employees. Connect with a health consultant to create a plan for detox, cleanse, and lifestyles changes to optimize the health of the workforce area in a step-by-step approach.
When you invest in the health of your employees and team members, you are investing in the physical, mental, and fiscal wellbeing of your entire organization.
