When your body is sick, it needs to prioritize healing. Healing is the only thing that keeps you on task, productive, and able to engage in the everyday world.
Every day, your body manages stress and negative energy at the same time that it’s trying to take in nutrients and work on healing itself from those stressors.
While you sleep, healing your body is the priority, but it isn’t easy. You must treat your body right when you’re awake, so the healing can take place after you go to sleep. The better your body heals itself at night, the better you will feel in the morning.
Your body wants to prioritize healing, but if you have a lot of fear, tension, and stress, your body will use lots of energy dealing with that. That means it won’t have as much energy for digesting your food, healing, and detoxing your body.
For example, if you eat while you are driving, your body doesn’t have the ideal conditions for digesting food. The body should be relaxed while eating, but if you’re driving, you are on alert mode, making sure not to get in an accident. The energy that should be used for digestion is being used to keep the brain alert to drive. This means you won’t get all the nutrients out of that food.
While you are watching TV, your attention is on TV. The same goes for working or being on the computer or cell phone. Your body is not relaxed enough to direct the necessary energy towards digesting your food. Let your body focus on digestion when you eat.
Make mealtime sacred: no TV, no cell phones, no iPads.
Include your children in this habit, too. Make this a rule (non-negotiable) and live by it for your health and the health of your kids.
If you watch the news right before going to sleep and it causes you fear or stress due to the negativity of the news media, you are interrupting your body’s process of healing and detoxing. Your body needs to detox and heal while you sleep, and that requires a relaxed, peaceful mind.
Please: do not watch the news right before going to bed. Try a mental fast, take a break from the news and digital media, and let your mind reach a calm state by meditation & writing a Gratitude Journal. This is an act that helps heal your body because your body needs peace and calm to heal itself.
Let us talk about digestion. Make sure to chew your food so it is well mixed with your saliva and is liquified. It is not what you eat, but what you digest and absorb that is important.
The more time you take to chew and enjoy your food, the better you will absorb the nutrients. To stay slim and trim, eat 80% of your calories before 2:00 PM and another 20% before early evening. If you do this, you will keep the extra weight away.
If you reverse this and eat more calories later in the day, you will gain weight. The ideal time to finish your last meal is between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. Your body will finish digestion before 9:00 PM and from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM your body’s circadian rhythm will take over to detox and heal your body.
Your body heals, detoxes, and restores itself when you have no stress and no food in your stomach. (This is why I talk about fasting. You can learn more about that here: https://simplehealthylivingcommunity.org/help-your-body-detox-through-fasting/)
To allow your body to detox and heal itself while you sleep, go to bed with your stomach empty and your mind relaxed. Read, play games with family, pray, meditate, write in a gratitude journal, take a warm shower. Find time for positive self-talk. No news, TV, or devices for at least one hour before bedtime. In this way, you prepare your body to heal and detox while you sleep, so you wake up with your health restored. This is the universal law of health. Follow this and you will feel healthy and strong.
